Our Legacy
Founded in 2023, the Cypress Venom proudly joined the National Basketball League–United States (NBL-US) as an expansion team representing the vibrant community of Cypress, Texas. From day one, under the leadership of Head Coach Donald Thompson, the Venom embodied grit, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. In our inaugural season, we stormed through the regular slate to reach the semifinals of the NBL-US Playoffs, laying the foundation for what would become a hallmark of back-to-back postseason triumphs.
Building on that momentum, Season Two (2024–2025) saw the Venom once again propelled by Thompson’s strategic brilliance and a roster of dedicated athletes. In a heart-stopping overtime battle against the Bay Area Bobcats, we fell just short of the finals—yet emerged stronger, hungrier, and more united than ever. Every dribble, every block, every buzzer-beater has strengthened our resolve to ignite the spirit of Cypress both on and off the court.
